"...last night seven of us came along to be entertained. And we were - Royally!
Madness and merriment, pathos and comedy all combined perfectly for a well-rounded production...
Well done! Many thanks and best wishes for now and all future performances."

Newcastle-based theatre company StageFOCUS returns to the Castle Keep with its delightful stage version of Lewis Carroll's classic, Alice in Wonderland.

Alice, a bright young girl with an eager sense of fun, one day falls into a mysteriously deep hole and into a land of topsy-turvy order. Hoping to find her way back to her 'normal' life, she sets off on and adventure like no other. On her way through this Mad World she discusses language and history with Animals (including the extinct Dodo), discusses etiquette and sensibility with a March Hare and a Mad Hatter at a Tea Party where it's always tea-time, and takes part in a most comically ludicrous trial presided over by the King and Queen of Hearts, as well as having many more adventures!

But amongst the anarchic humour and sparkling wordplay, puzzles and riddles are poignant moments of nostagia for a lost childhood.

Performed in the atmospheric surroundings of the Castle Keep, Lewis Carroll's most well-known text is brought to life in a wonderfully colourful and innovative fashion, offering moments of comedy, creativity, compassion and insanity.

Featuring popular characters such as The Caterpillar and The Cheshire Cat, this play is a must for all Lewis Carroll and 'Alice' fans.
